Liftoff Chief Evangelist Application

A short summary of all the reasons why I am a perfect fit for the role.

Why I am good to the role?

  1. I am a safe bet. Let me prove my worth for one month without pay, in any role you decide I can be a fit. If I am not good I will simply step back, grateful for the experience.
  2. I have a genuine enthusiasm for writing, learning, and tutoring.
  3. I understand both, parents and high-schoolers because I understand the concern they have for their kids as well as the balance between freedom and structure that young people need to have to thrive.
  4. For me making things better is a personal pursuit. I have experienced the ineffective educative system and the fear of showing my ideas to the world.
  5. I don’t run from difficult questions. I believe that while the truth might sometimes be harsh, by a correct and kind articulation of it we can create the most habitable environment possible.
  6. I have a compromise between people and their problems. I am the person that people look for when they have a personal problem.
  7. I don’t have a problem with having a beginner’s mind and learning from other people, as well as repeating the same process multiple times until it is good enough.
  8. I am capable of putting high standards on everything I do as well as committing to them.
  9. I love to work smart and hard, with special emphasis on working smart.

What is my evidence?

  1. I have written many original works by myself but I never thought of sharing them until recently. (Put the link to drive of my original, unpublished work).
  2. I have 20+ entries in my blog focused on the philosophical seek of meaning and psychological self-help.
  3. I have already 3proposalss ready to put in motion. These can be done entirely by me, without a problem, in fact, I have already started.

What are my proposes?

  1. Create a whole section for Journaling. Show the benefits to their grades, their resilience in school, their interpersonal relationships, and their mental health and overall well-being.
  2. Create a series of psychological tests for the students. Writers are particularly known for being high in the aspect of openness to experience of the big five traits. This aspect roughly describes their willingness to explore and understand new things. This aspect can create a lot of confusion and distress if it is paired with high neuroticism –their responsivity to negative emotion– and low conscientiousness –their response to structure, responsibility, and order. With this psychological test, we could include more people and treat those who struggle more effectively.
  3. Create a series of psychological tests for new applicants. A good amount of personality and cognitive tests can change the likelihood that you hire a good new applicant from 50:50 to 85:15. Standardizing job interviews are also a good way to reduce bias and form a more culturally rich environment.

What are my compromises with the students?

  1. Create a program they will love. No boredom, no drudgery, and no arbitrary requests.
  2. Create a space for them to share their passions safely. No bullying, racism, no gender violence, no classism, and no sexual harassment either from the teachers or the other kids.
  3. Show how they can use writing for their personal, creative, and professional goals.
  4. Demonstrate real-life examples of people from diverse occupations and origins suited especially for them to gather inspiration and motivation.
  5. Treat them with respect and listen to their needs and aspirations carefully to deliver the most appropriate response.
  6. Be with them at each step on the way to help them overpass motivational crises, personal problems or technical weaknesses, even if that help isn’t scalable.

What are my compromises with parents?

  1. Treat each parent with respect, kindness, and sincerity.
  2. Do whatever is in my power to convince skeptical parents of the benefits that liftoff will bring to their kids.
  3. Listen attentively to the questions, doubts, or concerns of parents about the program and answer each of them completely.
  4. Capture, organize, simplify and present real evidence about how the program works, what it can accomplish and how effective it is.
  5. Capture, organize, simplify feedback to create answers to the most common and important doubts of parents.
  6. Present a dynamic, interesting but overall worthwhile course for their kids to be enrolled in.

What are my compromises with the Liftoff team?

  1. Present them clear and distilled feedback from both, the parents and students to improve the quality of Liftoff.
  2. Listen carefully to their advice, needs, and expectations.
  3. Provide advice, ideas, or help whenever is needed or asked.
  4. Being loyal to my colleagues, my compromises and the Liftoff concept.

What are my compromises with the Liftoff program?

  1. Help transform Liftoff into the best writing school in the world.
  2. Make people feel Liftoff is the greatest investment they have ever made.
  3. Make Liftoff the safest environment possible to allow the free and idiosyncratic seek of each student’s passions and interests.
  4. Make Liftoff a compelling, fun and exciting experience for every student.
  5. Promote in Liftoff a safe and supportive community that brings plenty of constructive feedback.
  6. Develop and promote how Liftoff as more than a course, but a life-changing cohort that will be useful in any area of their lives.
  7. Encourage students to explore social writing but also give them the tools, evidence, and support to use writing for private purposes such as journaling.
